Being efficient
and keeping
warm & cosy.

The Power of Good Advice born from experience and industry knowledge.

Efficient Heating

Keeping your club warm & cosy.

Sports clubs are the heart of many communities, providing a venue for fitness, competition and social interaction. However, they can be costly to run, particularly when it comes to energy consumption for heating and providing hot water.

Find out more below about how we can help by offering practical steps towards more efficient energy use.

HEATING YOUR SPORTS CLUB

Assessing Your Current Heating System

The first step towards cutting costs is assessing your current heating system. Older systems can be inefficient, often working harder to maintain desired temperatures and wasting energy in the process. A new, condensing boiler can run at 94% efficiency. An older, un-serviced boiler could be running at 70% efficiency. Regular maintenance checks can help prolong lifespan and efficiency.

Monitoring and Analysing Current Usage

Knowledge is power, and knowing where your energy is being used can empower you to make cost-effective decisions. Install smart meters to monitor real-time energy use. Use this data to identify peak usage times and opportunities to reduce or switch off your heating systems. Remember the lower you can set your boiler temperature at the more efficient it will run.

Insulation

Investing in insulation is a cost-effective method to reduce energy consumption. Heat loss through poorly insulated roofs, walls, and windows can drastically increase energy demands. Proper insulation can trap heat, reducing the burden on your heating system and saving on energy costs.

Installing Smart Controls

Smart controls like programmable thermostats or thermostatic radiator controls can help optimise energy use based on occupancy and need. Weather controls can also regulate the amount of heating used relative to the outside temperature. These automated systems offer a hassle-free way to reduce energy costs.

Understanding More Efficient Alternatives

Finally, consider energy-efficient alternatives. Solar thermal panels can help provide hot water, while heat pumps can run at efficiencies of 500% if installed under the right conditions. If you have an old boiler it may not be condensing. Condensing boilers capture hot exhaust gases that would normally be expelled from the building to be re-used as heat making them much more efficient than traditional boilers. Although there is an upfront cost to new solutions, the long-term savings make them worthwhile investments and grant funding maybe available.

Minimising energy usage is more than an environmental responsibility—it's a practical way for sports clubs to reduce operational costs. By making smart choices and small changes, clubs can ensure they continue providing their essential services while keeping costs manageable.
